Beware of human speed bumps…

  • John 4:1-2 Jesus knew the Pharisees had heard that he was baptizing and making more disciples than John (though Jesus himself didn’t baptize them—his disciples did). So he left Judea and returned to Galilee.

I was really impressed with Jesus in my studies this morning (no surprises there).  Today’s verses are amazing.  As important as Jesus’ life-work was, he would do nothing to compromise John’s ministry.  At the first hint that John’s ministry was being diminished in the eyes of others Jesus packed up and left town.  He could wait (see Mark 1:14).

What an example in this cut-throat win-at-all-cost world we live in today.

When our lives are about fulfilling God’s mission instead of fulfilling our vision we can have the decency to wait on God’s timing.

Beware any time you must have it now or do it now.  Check to see if those speed bumps are people’s lives; if they are – wait.
