- Matthew 2:12 (NKJV) Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.
Recently at a strategic planning meeting I found myself putting up resistance for a particular idea. In mid-conversation I checked myself; “Why was I resisting this?” This was one of those meetings where there were no bad ideas; everything was open for discussion. But because I had landed on what I thought ought to be done (or not done), I had to defend my position and as a result I was shutting down new ideas and creativity. Dumb:(
It is such a simple truth but so hard to embrace: Unless you have considered alternatives, you have a closed mind.
Be open to new ideas today. Consider alternatives; listen; ask questions; postpone making a final decision; you never know when the next great idea will burst forth. Don’t kill it because of a closed mind.
Your opinion is just that: an opinion. What you like is just that: a preference. There may be a better alternative.
