- Proverbs 18:3 (NKJV) When the wicked comes, contempt comes also…
The Hebrew word for “wicked” can be thought of in terms of being “twisted”. In other words, what was once straight and true becomes twisted and bent.
Think in terms of a backbone. A “wicked” backbone is one that have become twisted and bent; it’s functionality has become compromised.
Now focus on one of the signs that you may have become twisted and your ability to function at optimal levels have been compromised: the sign is “contempt”. Or put another way “cynicism”.
We live in a time that being cynical is considered a plus; perhaps that explains why our culture is so twisted (wicked).
Dear friend, perhaps a good prayer for us to pray today is: “Dear Holy Spirit, restore unto us our innocence. Help us to become like little children so that we will miss all the “grown-up” innuendos around us and instead delight ourselves in the good things that our Father God has provided for us.”
Thanks.
