- Esther 4:14 (NKJV) For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
You have a boss. No, I’m not talking about your wife, fellows. I’m not talking about the person who signs your paycheck or timecard or any other authority figure; I’m talking about your stated intentions.
Yes, what you say you are going to do is your boss. You “boss” will judge you one day when you stand before God.
Of course you know this. You understand that when you make a promise God and people expect you to follow through. So the temptation is to shy away from ever really committing yourself.
Countless numbers of people go through life never really committing to anything. They live selfish, safe and passionless lives. The real issue is they don’t want to be under authority. Accountability is a bad word in their world. It’s easier to waffle, procrastinate and hedge their bets than – Heaven forbid – have to follow through on a commitment.
Like the forever bachelor that is “free” because they’re unwilling to commit themselves to someone, the person that never states their intentions and commits to following through cuts themselves off from a more meaningful and fulfilling life. Dating is OK for a while, but there are levels of love and intimacy that will never be experienced outside the commitment of marriage. The same is true in every area of life.
State your intentions! Make a declaration. Draw a line in the sand. Announce your dreams. Look people in the eye and make a promise. Move from the ranks of part-time volunteer to the ranks of the committed.
It’s time to get out of the unemployment line. You can scrape by living off unemployment but is that how you really want to live? It’s time for your boss to crack the whip.
