- Genesis 24:48 (NKJV) And I bowed my head and worshiped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the way of truth…
There is a world of difference between truth and “the” truth.
For example, it is true that I have done a few good things in my life. But “the” truth is if it were not for the redemptive power of Jesus Christ and the continual restraining power of the Holy Spirit in my life I would sink into a sinful lifestyle and eventually make hell my eternal home.
It may be true that you work hard and bring home a decent paycheck to your family; but “the” truth may be that you are not fulfilling your responsibilities at home like you should.
It may be true that you do not tell dirty jokes, but “the” truth may be that your language is negative and not God-honoring.
It may be true that you are pretty regular in your church attendance, but “the” truth is that you are not where you ought to be with God.
Bottom line, discovering “the” truth, not just truth, is one of the most important responsibilities of life. It’s easy to find true things that make us feel good and validates what we want to do, but uncovering “the” truth (the big picture, the reality) is much, much more important.
