- Proverbs 6:1-2 (NKJV) My son, if you become surety for your friend, If you have shaken hands in pledge for a stranger, you are snared by the words of your mouth; you are taken by the words of your mouth.
Turns out that nothing messes up a good friendship or destroys your chance at a new friendship like money.
Good rule of thumb: Never lend (or borrow money) from anyone you want to be a friend with; if you can’t give it as a gift (with no strings attached) then it would be better to keep both your mouth and your wallet closed.
