With a Focus on 40-days of Prayer & Fasting… Day-7/40 (18% Complete)

  • Ezekiel 33:10 How then shall we live?

In many ways, our 40-days season is a Sabbath season.

What I mean by that is that our 40-days season is a time to reexamine how we live our lives; it is a time to recalibrate our lives.

Just like the Sabbath, which is meant to be the pivot point that the rest of the week evolves around, so is our 40-days. During this time we “shock our system” in order to awaken old good habits that have been crowded out by lesser things. During our 40-days season we put the paddles to our spiritual chest and start our heart for God back beating correctly.

A few nights ago I spoke with one of the brothers at church; his face was aglow. He had spent the day listening to nothing but Christian music and the very little television that he had watched was Christian television. What had happen – he had pushed out lesser things and replaced them with spiritually edifying activities. That is one of the major benefits of our 40-days.

I encourage you to ruthlessly examine your life during these 40-days. Cut away the excess. Eliminate those spiritually draining activities. Without any remorse, kill those damaging practices in your life that take your mind and affections away the upward calling of Jesus Christ.

Paul said it elegantly: I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. (1 Corinthians 9:27)
