With a Focus on 40-days of Prayer & Fasting… Day-3/40 (7.5% Complete)

  • Malachi 3:10 (NKJV) Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.

Remember, our 40-days is a “Lordship” issue.

We have a tendency to get a little defensive when it comes to our money. We may waste it but we don’t want someone taking it.  Money has a way of becoming “my” money. That is why Jesus talked more about money than any other person in the Bible. That is why tithing and offerings are such a major theme through the entire Bible. God knows that money has a way of consuming us, distracting us, and giving us a sense of false power and worth. He knows that the only antidote for this is to faithfully kill that desire with giving.

However, if we get a little antsy about our money, we get downright testy about our time. Our time is our own; we can waste it and use it foolishly but after all: It’s our life and we can live it the way we want – and don’t you or anyone else try to tell me how to live my life!

BUT, it is not our life. Our life belongs to God, which means that every second of our life belongs to God. Moreover, don’t think of time as a “gift” from God: we can do what we want with gifts; instead, think of time as a sacred trust entrusted to you for which you will give an account someday.

That is why “tithing” our time each year is such a big deal. It is like a cold shower that shocks us back into reality: my life is not my own, it belongs to God!

So don’t begrudge the time that you are giving to God during this 40-days season, you are setting yourself up for a tremendous blessing.
