- Malachi 1:7 (MSG) “When you say, ‘The altar of GOD is not important anymore; worship of GOD is no longer a priority,’ that’s defiling. And when you offer worthless animals for sacrifices in worship, animals that you’re trying to get rid of—blind and sick and crippled animals—isn’t that defiling? Try a trick like that with your banker or your senator—how far do you think it will get you?” GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies asks you.”
Can you picture in your mind the expression: Life is moving fast? Perhaps you’re having trouble because you don’t have time to slow down long enough to imagine anything.
One of the most vital skills required to make it in our fast-paced world is the skill of being able to handle increasingly complex problems – often simultaneously – without compromising the completion of one’s essential duties and dreams.
Here’s the danger: you can get so caught up in the face pace of life that you fail to take care of the things that really matter.
For example, that growing waistline could be a sign that through you’re managing the problems of today, you are compromising your ability to take care of your future duties and dreams by not making the time to exercise, rest and eat correctly.
There are a dozen examples I could give, but bottom line, while you’re managing today’s problems – don’t neglect tomorrow’s priorities.
And here’s the odd thing – for those of you not driving in the fast lane: you can get so relaxed enjoying the scenery that you wake up one day and realized you lived your life going nowhere.
Either way – the fast lane or the slow lane – life has a way of passing us by unless we stay focused on our essential duties and dreams while also managing the problems of today.
