- 2 Timothy 4:10 (NKJV) Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica…
A Question that Matters: Is your personal walk with God up-to-date?
Remember the fable about the tortoise and the hare? Remember how the hare (rabbit) got side-tracked and wandered off and ended losing the race to the tortoise?
The moral of the fable is: stay focused.
There is no more crucial responsibility each day than monitoring your personal walk with God. The temptation is to slack off in our relationship with God when life is running smooth and then come running back to God like the Feds on a big drug bust when things tank.
The tragedy with that game plan is all that happens between Point A (when things are going well) and Point B (when things tank).
It’s like a married couple that only speak to each morning just before heading out to work. As nice as a kind word and a quick kiss are before heading out the door, think how barren and empty that marriage would be. Think of the many memories they could have made, the joys they could have shared, the intimate moments that could have enriched their lives and the good they could have achieved together.
The Apostle Paul wrote of a close friend and companion in the ministry by the name of Demas. He wrote: “Demas has forsaken me having loved this present world.” Demas, like the hare, got distracted and wandered away. Think of what could have been – oh what a tragedy.
Don’t allow that to happen to you in your relationship with God. Is your personal walk with God up-to-date? Get that right and everything else will fall into place just the way it should.
