When Your Peace is Gone…

  • Matthew 18:3 (NKJV) Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

I’d like to offer another thought on the definition of success: To be able to close my eyes at night and be at peace having experienced the joy and pleasure of being in my Father God’s presence and having given my best at what He asked me to do.

Following is a direct quote from my prayer journal on December 12, 2010:

  • I am so tired of having a dark empty space in my inner being. “Sanctified worldly success” is not enough. Numbers, dollars, staff, buildings, positions and all the other stuff that the world and church says is important does not bring what really satisfies. I am dreaming of being at peace with God, my family, my associates and church family and above all with myself.

As many of you will know, that was written during a dark season of the soul for me. I had hit a wall. After 30 years of ministry and the relentless drive for “sanctified worldly success” and what the church world called important, I realized that something was missing. During that dark season of the soul I learned that that “something” was having a childlike relationship with my Father God.

Please believe me – you can have the best of intentions, you can even have a relationship with God, as I discussed in yesterday’s blog – you can be walking in your destiny and even be anointed, but if you do not have an “Abba Father” (Abba = papa // Rom. 8:15, Gal. 4:6) relationship with God then it is all empty and oh so wearying.

I have discovered that my relationship with God is the pivot point upon which all else turns. When I have that right everything and everyone else falls into their proper place.

So how is it with you today?

  • You can be in the best shape you’ve ever been
  • You can be making more money than you’ve ever made
  • You can be more respected in your field and have more influence than you’ve ever had
  • And still have an empty place in your soul.

Nothing matters above being at peace with God…whatever you do, don’t forget that. Maybe it’s time to reconnect today…coming to Him as His little child.
