Success is: To be at peace with God and if possible all people
Something that is vitally important about being at peace with God is that to do so requires not being at peace with much in this world. Remember, success is not about being comfortable or even happy all the time.
Notice how Peter describes Lot: Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard. (2 Peter 2:7-8)
Those are strong words and should send a clear signal to us that true success is costly.
Whatever you do, don’t think that you can be successful with God and be at peace with the world also. Oil and water do not mix, light and darkness do not both rule in the same place and the values and practices of a sinful world is going to clash with the values and practices of the person seeking to be at peace with God.
Whatever you do, don’t expect 2013 to be an easy year if your definition of success is to be at peace with God. It will not be easy, but it will be worth and that is what makes “success” so meaningful.
The ONE THING 
this is valuable. the painful paradigm shift that leaves us more concerned with God’s plan and path for us than with comforts and easy roads finds its reward nearer the end than the beginning. i hope to follow this advice in the coming year, and years.
