- 1 Timothy 3:1-7 (NKJV) This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work.
This is the old which-came-first-the-egg-or-the-chicken question. Does God first call someone to be a pastor or do they desire to be one first and then God acknowledges that desire by calling them?
I don’t really know…all I know is that from my earliest memories as a child I had a desire to be a minister of the Gospel.
But here’s the point: What do you desire?
Are you waiting on God to “call” you for some mission and purpose in life? Why not look at it differently. What do you desire to do? What do you desire to be? Is it a good work? Will it glorify Jesus and help people? Then why not jump in and go for it. Believe that God put that desire in you. Don’t let your fear or a false humility rob you of the desire to be something great.
Your desire may not be to be a preacher, but I’m betting God has put some great desire in you. Believe in yourself and go for it. At least live as good as you expect your pastor to live.
Afterall, who wants a pastor that is charged with guarding your soul, doing so only because God made them?
I’ve been married more than once but I have been in church with the other marriages but I have one that has always made me remember one thing . Not that my marriage is bad couldn’t ask for a better woman in my life . But, this marriage I am referring to : I went to a revival with her and her family and I had a pastor call me out . I look around and he tells me yes you , can you come up front? So I proceed to walk between the chairs at this tent revival and I get beside the pastor . He looks at me and tells me , I’m gonna tell you something and then you tell me if anyone should know. Depending on your answer the congregation will know or they won’t . So I ask how do you determine , what he wants you to do ? ” this pastor tells me that ,I was told by the holy spirt son you will preach one day . ” nowy question for you is how will I know if or when this will happen ? Your follower Thomas Cantara thanks for your ear to tell and if you can explain please let me know .

Hey Thomas!
Concerning the answer to your question – the issue of knowing if or when you are called to preach is too important of an issue for me to try to answer in a few sentences. I would be happy to discuss this issue with you, however. If you’d like to set up a time for us to meet just let me know.
In the meantime, make knowing Jesus the pursuit of your life. As you come to know Him better it is easier to know His heart and will for your life.
Blessings,
dlk
