A take away from yesterday’s election that will matter for the rest of your life.

  • 1 Thessalonians 1:3 (NKJV) …remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,

All day long I have been bombarded by people’s thoughts and reflections on yesterday election.  I hesitate to weigh in; I doubt seriously that we need to hear one more thing about the election.  However, when has that ever stopped a preacher from talking about something! 🙂

However, I will say that my only reason for weighing in is that I feel that I have an eternal principle that is applicable to far more than yesterday’s election.  So here goes…

My thoughts about yesterday’s election are simple: I am optimistic and constructive.

I mean, how can a Christian not be optimistic about life?  After all, in light of yesterday’s election what has changed about God?

So really, most of the pontificating that has come across my path – you know, all the Chicken Little the-sky-is-falling stuff – I’ve just tuned out and ignored.  I’ll not be drawn into that negative pack.

However, being optimistic and not being negative is not enough (there’s probably a more grammatical way of saying that, but it escapes me).  After all, there was an optimist on the Titanic that didn’t think it worthwhile to listen to warnings about icebergs.

Therefore, I will be optimistic and constructive.

Ok, so I voted yesterday – give me a sticker.  All voting does is express my opinion of what I think others should do.  That will never be enough.  After all, the world is full of people going around saying, “Somebody needs to do this or that.”  What I plan to do is do something myself to ensure that my optimism is warranted.

Nothing has changed about God in light of my current circumstances, but chances are there’s something about me that needs to change – that I intend to do.

Will you join me?
