So…what have your critics been saying about you lately?

  • Mark 14:5 (NKJV) For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” And they criticized her sharply.

You can tell a lot about what people think of you by how they criticize you.  Matter of fact, they often give you a backdoor compliment without realizing it.

For example, think about the church.

The church is often criticized for being hypocritical; what the critic is saying is that the church at its best is “real” (honest, sincere, non-deceiving).

Critics of the church often criticize the church for asking for money all the time.  They never criticize their grocery store, gas station or favorite restaurant for doing the same.  What they’re saying is that the church at its best is generous, giving and caring.

Critics of the church will be quick to criticize a church leader for a moral failure and yet shrug it off when national leaders and celebrities do far worst things.  What they’re saying is that the church at its best provides honest and moral leaders who can be trusted.

Critics of the church will criticize the church for not being friendly or for fighting amongst themselves.  What they’re saying is at its best, the church is a place where people are accepted and loved and where there is peace and unity.

So… what are you being criticized for lately?
