Never be Ashamed of Your Best

  • Mark 14:8 (NKJV) She has done what she could.

I try to make a “The One Thing” entry every day (except Sunday).  Today has been one of those days that the pace and responsibilities of life have been pretty much at the speed of light.  Here it is after 10:00 p.m. and I’m just now getting around to recording a few thoughts.

Truthfully, this is the best I could do.

Some days my best demands that I spend an hour or more preparing my thoughts, to do less would not be my best.  However, there are also days like today when just laying down a few lines before falling in bed is the best I can do.

That’s how the “game of life” is.

Sometimes the best you can do is strike out swinging for the fences and sometimes your best is a home run.  However, the best you can do in any situation is your best.

You can’t be at the top of your game in every situation.

You don’t always get a chance to get plenty of rest before jumping into life…

You don’t always have an opportunity to be fully prepared…

You don’t always have the privilege of playing to your strengths…

Sometimes you have to do life playing hurt, being misunderstood, under resourced and overwhelmed.

But if you did your best that was the best you could do.

Sometimes your best is better than at other times – but if it’s your best then be at peace…

…and never…

…ever…

…be ashamed of doing your best.
