Mercy for Preachers & Teachers

  • 2 Corinthians 4:1 (NKJV) Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart.

Every God-called preacher and teacher has special abilities and contributions to make to the Body of Christ.

However, at the end of the day, you will not be standing behind your pulpit/podium the next time you speak because you’ve impressed God with your holiness, hard work and accumulation of knowledge.  The truth is you will be standing there because God – in His mercy – loved you, called you, and has kept you.

Maybe you’ve get it together for this weekend – all the dots dotted and the tees crossed, but most likely, you haven’t.  I’m not excusing or condoning sloth and sloppiness, but the truth is I seldom feel as prepared as I really want to be.

However, my hope is not in my ability and talent, my hope is in the fact that thirty-four years of experience has taught me that God will, one more time, have mercy on me and help me.

My fellow communicators don’t lose heart…

Do you best – for sure – but remember your best will never be enough: it doesn’t have to be.  God in His mercy will honor His word and His call upon your life.
