Finish Well

  • John 17:4 (NKJV) I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.

Remember the last two weeks of school?  Air condition was not a part of my classroom experience until I went to High School.  Growing up, the last couple of weeks before school was out for the summer were torment.  The windows would be open and you could smell the scent of freshly cut grass, the sound of bees buzzing around spring flowers and feel the warm breeze wafting through the winder; it was like a siren song calling you away from organized education to carefree playing.

Fridays remind me of that, they can be like mini-“School’s Out” (I’m trying to block out Alice Cooper’s “Schools Out for the Summer!” right now).

It’s easy to check out before checkout time on Fridays, but finishing strong is the key to success in life-whether it is Friday or any other day of the week.

The point: finish strong.

Whether it is a day or a lifetime, a marriage or a friendship, a career or a project – give it your best until you finish.

Fortunes are made and lost during the last 30-minutes of the trading on Wall Street each day, in the same way, it is the last lap of that determines who gets the gold medal, and in the same way, it is the one that finishes strong that reaps the rewards of a life well lived.

Buckle up, stay focused, finish well – don’t check out before checkout time.
