Are You Like a Smoking Machine?

  • Ephesians 4:26-27 (NKJV) Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.

The goal for the day: Do everything in your power to end this day at peace with everyone.

I remember when I was a boy, each year at Summer Youth Camp the director would bring in a machine that smoked cigarettes.  It had two “glass lungs” full of cotton-like substance and we could watch with clarity what smoking a cigarette would do to our lungs if we dared to light up one of those “cancer sticks”!  (They laid it on thick :))

However, there was a lesson to learn and I think it can also illustrate the importance of today’s goal.

Allowing bad feelings and unresolved issues to carry over into another day is like smoking cigarettes – it damages you little by little until one day you reach the point of no return – a bitter, cynical and negative person.

Remember, just like cigarette smoke permeates everything, when you allow negative feelings toward one person to lie unresolved it permeates every other relationship you have.  Matter of fact, it taints every area of your life.

Dear friend, why do this?  Let it go, kick the habit, don’t let a day go by with unresolved issues.  End each day with peace in your heart toward all men…when you do, you end the day at peace with yourself and your God.  And that’s a good and healthy thing.
