- 1 Corinthians 5:4-5 (NKJV) In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5 deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
Everybody cares about what someone thinks about them. Occasionally you will run across the renegade who acts if they could care less what anyone thinks of them but they remind me of the expression: “Thou protests too much.”
My caution to you today is: Beware whose opinion matters to you; for that person(s) has a lot of influence over you.
Today’s verse is a reminder that what the Jesus Christ and his Church thinks about you is truly important.
Isn’t it amazing how little the influence the Church has upon us. Yet Jesus has given His “keys of authority to His Church” (Matthew 16:19) even to the point that the Church can “deliver us to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that our spirit may be saved.”
I’m afraid most people expect their church to impress them; I’d suggest that we need to start figuring out ways to impress our church.
