Good morning my dearly loved PEPpers!
Tomorrow we will be celebrating our 81st anniversary as a church! The world little noted the meeting of our nineteen original charter members when they first met and covenanted together to form an official congregation with the Church of God, Cleveland TN.
However, eighty-one years later, the FMCOG is a thriving Pentecostal witness in our region of the country, honored with respect throughout our denomination and is leaving deep footprints of ministry around the world.
As the prophet admonished: Never underestimate small beginnings! (Zechariah 4:10)
Our church was birthed from a “cottage prayer meeting” and prayer has always been a major part of our DNA. If you are free this afternoon, I want to encourage you to attend our Saturday evening prayer service at 6:00 p.m. I can think of no better way of celebrating our 81st anniversary than by mimicking our early church founders by attending a prayer meeting.
Originally, one of our young ministers, Ashton Altman, was scheduled to give the devotional at the prayer service. However, tragically his grandfather passed away unexpectedly earlier this week. I will be with the Altman family in Conway today for the funeral and may not make it back in time for the prayer service myself. However, I have asked Pastor Larry to be there to lead the service and I know he will have a strong word from the Lord for us and will lead us in a special time of prayer. I hope to get back in time to be there, but just in case, please keep me in your prayers today (traveling mercy) and join with me in giving special thanks for the privilege of being a part of the great Fort Mill Church of God!
Whether today or tomorrow, I look forward to seeing you soon at church as we celebrate the faithfulness of God.
With warmest regards,
david l. kemp
