- Acts 16:2 (NKJV) He was well spoken of by the brethren who were at Lystra and Iconium.
The name “Timothy” is number 27 on the all time most popular name for boys list. That’s not bad. However, we may have never heard of the name Timothy had not someone spoke up for Timothy from Lystra and Iconium.
Recently, at the church I pastor, we experienced one of the best revivals that I have ever been a part of. This was due in large part to the outstanding evangelist (Jonathon Ziegler) that I scheduled to be our speaker. I did not know the man but one of my staff did and thankfully recommended him. His endorsement set the table for a great move of God.
I know for a fact that in my own life if it had not been for people who were willing to speak up for me I would not be where I am today. I suspect the same is true for you.
We humans are relational creatures. It is not always what you know, but more often it is who you know that opens doors of opportunity for you.
Quick question: Who do you know that you could speak up for?
Your opinion and endorsement carries weight to someone. There could be a “Timothy” out there that is talented and available who could make a great difference in the world for good if only someone would speak up for them.
I wonder who the next Timothy is? Maybe you know him or her. Don’t be so absorbed in your own life and issues that you forget to go to bat for someone else.
