Today’s ONE THING: Who is that knocking?

  • Acts 12:16 Now Peter continued knocking; and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished.

Recently on one of our “Sabbath trips” Sonja and I found a BBQ restaurant out in the middle of nowhere and decided to give it a shot.  (It was called “Big T’s BBQ” / 2520 Congaree rd. Gadsden, SC if you are interested).

To be honest, we were a little hesitant to go in but there was an A rating on the door and we decided to give it a shot. It was not very encouraging when we stepped inside.  The customers already there looked at us like we were from another planet and the surroundings would certainly not make in Southern Living magazine.  However, we had opened the door and stepped in and we decided to finish what we started.

Boy were we glad we did.  We enjoyed some of the best food that we’ve had in a long time.  Matter of fact, Sonja declares that the hash was the best she’d ever eaten.

Most days we are given a chance to open a door and be astonished.  There’s always a risk involved.  Getting out of our comfort zone is required.  But in the end, if we will be willing to “open the door” we will be astonished at the amazing things that can happen when we give unlikely people and unlikely places a chance.
