Number 22 on our SC State Parks Tour – Poinsett State Park

Poinsett State Park 

This park is about 90 minutes from Fort Mill and about 10 miles outside of Sumter.  It was a very pleasant surprise.  If you could only go to one state park in South Carolina this may be the one to go to.  It has a little of all of South Carolina in it: everything from Spanish Ivy to Mountain Laurel, Cypress growing in the swamp and hardwoods that grow at the foot of the Blue Ridge mountains.  The trails are clearly marked and beautiful. 

Sonja and I really enjoyed it and give it a four-star+ plus rating.
