Today’s ONE THING: Can You Handle the Truth?

  • John 4:16-18
  • 16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”
  • 17 The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.”
  • Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”

Be prepared for those “I-didn’t-see-that-coming” moments when you include Jesus in your life.  Jesus does not hesitate to ask the awkward question.   He points out without any hesitation that the “emperor does not have on any cloths.”  If there is a “500 pound gorilla” in the room that no one is willing to talk about, trust me on this, Jesus will point it out.

Is Jesus rude?  Does Jesus have a perverse delight in embarrassing people?  Of course not, Jesus cares for you.  He is brutally kind.  He will not let you go all day with food stuck in your teeth or bad breath or your zipper down.

Matter of fact, he cares so much that he will not allow you to fool yourself.  He cuts through the fluff and tinsel and gets to the real issue.

How about you today; are there issues in your life that you are ignoring?  Your relationship with Jesus will go no further until you acknowledge them and deal with them.  Jesus loves you too much to allow you to live in fantasy land.
