I am an early riser. The world looks and sounds so different in the early morning hours. I will often step out on the front porch and listen to the night sounds and look up at the night sky; it is easier for me to believe in God and the words of God in those quiet moments. Eternity seems closer, easier to grasp and understand.
The noise and clutter of life can easily drown out the still small voice of the Almighty and we can become isolated – cut off – from the Eternal God who is our refuge (Deuteronomy 33:27).
The noise and clutter of life can also drown out the urgent cry of the Holy Spirit to prepare for eternity. He cries out this reminder: “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God.” (Hebrews 10:31)
Could it be that the wrath of God abides upon you today? The deciding factor is your relationship with Jesus Christ. God’s wrath either strikes the sinner or the sinner’s substitute; Jesus is that substitute.
Whatever you do, do not leave Jesus Christ out of the equation. He is your hope, help, healing and eternal security. You can blow many decisions in life and survive, but your decision about Jesus Christ is one that you must get right.
I don’t care how busy you are today. I don’t care how many urgent matters are pounding on your door. Before and above everything else, make sure that your heart is right with God. The key? Jesus Christ. Know Him, pursue Him, and proclaim Him Lord of your life.
