Today’s ONE THING: Just riding the rapids

There are seasons in life and sometimes those seasons are pretty hectic; I’m in one of those “hectic seasons” right now.  This season comes around every two years and it is called the Church of God General Assembly (my denominational convention).  For a week I endure a crazy schedule of business meetings and more business meetings.  There is little time for anything else.

What do you do during times like this – you just ride the rapids and focus on survival.

  • Physically, I survive by breathing, eating and sleeping and taking the stairs (that’s my exercise :))
  • Emotionally, I do what I do with friends and remind myself that this will be over soon.
  • Spiritually, I do not compromise on my quiet time with God.

Here it is, almost 9:00 p. m. and I am just now getting around to my daily blog entry.  When you’re riding the rapids of life you work in the extras when you can; but there are a very few things that you must do and dear friend, whatever you do, don’t neglect your time with God, it’s right up there with breathing, eating and sleeping.

I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.

Psalm 138:2
