- John 3:34 For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.
Which makes more sense to you:
- Option 1: The universe emerged from nothing, by no one, and without a specific plan or purpose. Or…
- Option 2: The universe was created by an infinite, eternal, and personal God for his own glory and purpose
As the saying goes, it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that option two makes more sense. However, I’m afraid that the average rocket scientist would go with option one. The prevailing view in academia today is that the material universe somehow experienced what they call a “quantum fluctuation” which somehow allowed the universe to pop into existence from absolute nothing. If you have that much faith and are happy living without a specific plan or purpose for your life, then go for it.
However, I am going to go with what is stated matter-of-factly in John 3:34. Notice:
- Someone outside our universe (transcendent) has been sent
- This Someone speaks (communicates with us)
- This Someone is fully divine (“For God does not give the Spirit by measure”)
I am so thankful that there is a Creator God who loves us enough to come to us and to communicate with us so that we can have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10).
Why do people work so hard to not believe in God when God has worked so hard to show that He believes in us? Dear friend, not only believe in God, believe God. He loves you and cares for you. You were created by an infinite, eternal, and personal God that has a meaningful and fulfilling purpose and plan for your life.
This requires exercising faith, but not as much as option one.
