Today’s ONE THING: It’s a Done Deal

John 3:33 He who has received His testimony has certified that God is true.

Let me bore you with a little Greek language lesson.  The expression, “He who has received” is an “aorist participle” (I know, it’s all Greek to you).  However, what that means is that John is not speaking of a continuous, day-by-day decision but instead a decisive – “done deed” – decision.

There are so many people in the world today that are like the restless waves of the ocean: never settled, never at peace.

Dear friend, do not be like that.  There must be a few core things that you decide – once and for all.

If not already, decide today that there is a God and Jesus Christ is His Son.  Decide and live as if you’ve decided.

Other examples could be:

Marriage is a decision.  Remember how you said, “Until death do you part”?  Well then, it doesn’t really matter the state of your marriage today.  It doesn’t matter how happy or unhappy your spouse is making you or how happy that nice and very attractive person is making you; you’ve already made that decision.

Consider you job – you decided to take that job.  Whether you’re happy or not today is not the issue; act on your decision and give your job your very best.

Can you see the power of making a once-and-for-all decision?  It doesn’t mean you’ll be happy every minute of the day; but it does mean you’ll have a deep settled peace…especially the one about God and His Son.
