The ONE THING for July 6, 2012: A Call for Men (and Women) to Pray – 19/28 Days of Developing a Prayer Life

  • John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Brothers, let’s reflect on yesterday.  I dare say that yesterday we could have all done better in serving Christ.  Honesty compels us to admit that we fell short of the glory and standard of God.  I make no excuses for this and in my prayers today I humbly ask for the help of the Holy Spirit that we may live a more God-honoring life.

However, it is not a man’s sins that send him to hell.  His sins are only the evidence that will be used against him.  The sentence that hangs over every man’s head is not that he is a sinner but that he loves being a sinner.

Being a non-repentant sinner is like sitting in a dark room with light switches all around you and refusing to turn on the light.  The non-repentant sinner would rather sit in the dark than to turn on the light.

Jesus the light of the world stands ready to shine the light of his holiness and love into every sinner’s life and help them see how to live a God-honoring and Heaven-gaining life, but the sinners says, “No!”  I’d rather live in the dark.

Dear brothers, this is why we pray.  Every time you pray it is like turning on the light and saying, “Jesus, show me the way.”

We are free from condemnation, not because we live a perfect life, we are free from condemnation because we desire and insist upon walking in or at least toward the light.

So remember, every time you walk into another day, situation and challenge – turn on the light.

Pray brothers!  Prayer is the light switch of Heaven.
