John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
There are a lot of things out there to condemn. If you are looking for a reason to take offense that ought to be easy. If you have a teaspoon’s worth of righteousness, you will be vexed and wearied by the constant barrage of sin and antichrist attitudes.
However, remember why Paul challenged us to pray:
- Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-4)
Brothers, maybe you noticed that in today’s verse (John 3:17) that John mentioned “world” three times in that one single verse. Maybe we need to stretch our faith a bit today. We can become narrow and condemning. We can give up on people too soon. We can become offended and write people off. Or, we can pray!
Brothers, let us exert ourselves today. Let us pray for those that spitefully use us and say all matter of evil against us. Let us pray for those that offend us and trample on all that we call sacred. Let us dare to believe that as long as there is life there is hope. Let us be done with condemning the world and let us pray for the world.
Brothers…let us pray!
