Today’s ONE THING: “DO practice moderation”

Yesterday I wrote about NOT living a balanced life.  What I was dealing with was focus, the allotment of your resources (your time, talents and treasures) and your priorities.  In others words, do not be balanced in spending your precious life.  The truth is, not all things are equal; not all things deserve the same amount of your time or resources (some do not deserve any).

Having said that, do not confuse not being balanced with being indulgent.  Remember one of the questions I challenged you to stop asking: “What do I want?”  (See May 25, 2012 blog).  The reason you do not need to ask that question is that what you want is to indulge yourself.  We humans want to cater to ourselves.  We want to focus on our desires, wants and cravings.  In other words, we want our way.

However, if you want your life to amount to anything it will require both a focused life and a disciplined life (moderation).

Practicing both of these together provides “real” balance and keeps you heading forward and in the right the direction.
