You may have noticed that for several weeks now I have updated my blog with a “Today’s ONE THING” everyday, except for Sunday. I do this because it is meaningful for me.
It has been gratifying to discover that people from all over the world somehow have discovered my blog site and follow me each day (Hello to you!); but when I write my blog I write to someone – I have faces in my mind; my blogs are not a general word written to splash on the world in the hopes that someone gets wet, I write with purpose, I write to people I care about.
And that is why I waited until this evening to write my blog – to demonstrate today’s ONE THING: Do something meaningful each evening.
If you think about it, we have very little “free time” in which we can truly make decisions about what we want to do; our evenings usually provide the largest portion of the free time that we have each day. What I want to encourage you to do is do something meaningful each evening. I’m not talking about being productive, I’m not talking about using your evening to catch up or get a head start on tomorrow – Heaven’s no!
Also, I’m not talking about chilling out in your easy chair in a semi-coma or mindlessly surfing the web or chatting with people on Facebook that you’ve never met while your family that you’ve hardly spoken to sits in the next room.
What I am talking about is doing something meaningful; something that matters; something that feeds your soul. It may be tucking your children in bed and saying prayers with them and reading them a story. It may be a fifteen minute talk with your spouse, or parents – how’s that for a shocker – children that choose to talk with their parents? (!) Or it may be reading a favorite book or taking a slow walk (not for exercise) just to hear the evening sounds and watch the sky slowly go to sleep.
Whatever it is, accumulate a lifetime of evenings that were accented with meaning…it makes for a rich life.
Time is precious
