The ONE THING for today – “Keep it Short!”

I know you are shocked, hearing from a preacher, of all people, telling you to “keep it short.”  However, to my defense think in terms of an entire week.  Keeping in mind that I will stand in the judgment before God for every member I serve, I have 40-45 minutes each a week (assuming they are there and or not distracted and are listening) to try to communicate to them the message that God has for them.  Forty-five minutes – that’s 0.0044 of the week; that’s short.

So whether you are reading a book or correcting your child, keep it short.  When trying to explain something to someone, get to the point!  When working on an important project, keep it short.  Bottom line, (How can I say this?)…keep it short.

The mind can think with razor-sharp precision for short periods of time, the body can achieve amazing feats for short spurts and people’s “nerves” can endure your worst qualities in small doses.  It’s when we don’t know when to find the exit that we get in trouble.

The Word of God teaches that there is a season for everything (Ecc. 3); knowing when the season is over is the pathway to fruitfulness and to enjoying the fruit.
