Today’s ONE THING (Are you ready for this?)

  • FIFTH: God’s Call on my life – I am called of God to proclaim the gospel and to reach the nations.  As a result (Jeremiah 1:4-5) God has endowed me to be an anointed communicator with the ability to change lives through the preaching and teaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Let me remind you what we’ve been doing this week.  I have been walking you through my personal affirmations concerning God’s call upon my life.   As a result, they are designed with my unique calling – to be a preacher and pastor – in mind.  However, the principles behind each affirmation apply to all Christ-followers.

For example, I reminded you this week that you have a “pulpit”.  It may not be like my pulpit but you have a position of influence which you can leverage for your own selfish pursuits or which you can use to fulfill God’s calling upon your life.

Today’s ONE THING is that I want you to think “proclaim the gospel” and “reach the nations.”  In many ways you are far more dangerous than I am when it comes to “proclaiming the gospel”.  Once people discover that I am a preacher they expect me to “preach”.  They expect me to “be good” (Christ-like).  Thus if they are not open to the Gospel they can easily pick me out and avoid me or at least tune me out.

But you…now you are dangerous.  You work behind enemy lines most of the time.  You are more like an under-cover agent (think Navy Seal) that can surprise people with the good news of the Gospel.  It is not that you are hiding your faith, in fact as a communicator (verbally and non-verbally) you are preaching everyday and your chances of “getting through” to non-believers is much better than mine.

The more intentional you become about this the more influence for Jesus Christ you will have – and remember, according to affirmations one and two, He and his mission is the singular focus of everything you do.

So…how does what you do and who you are fit with “proclaiming the gospel to the nations?”
