Today’s ONE THING is going to be a little counter-intuitive. It is: “Do not overproduce.”
There was once a farmer who produced excellent produce and dairy products. He ran a little roadside open-air market where people would line up for his goods. However, virtually every day he would run out of his products and would announce to his disappointed customers, “Come back tomorrow and I’ll have more.”
Once when asked by a disappointed and frustrated customer why he couldn’t plan better he replied, “Matthew 6:33-34.”
This of course was not what the irate customer expected but I encourage you meditate on those two verses today. Think in terms of:
- Humility – you are not your ultimate source.
- Focus – being productive is good, but your ultimate focus in life is not in that direction.
- Trust – learn the meaning of the word “enough”.
- Sustainability – chances are there is a tomorrow in your life, pace yourself for the journey.
