John 10:1 Jesus said, “he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.”
Are you a thief and a robber? I can almost hear your response now, “Why of course not!”
However, let me put the question to you in terms of Jesus being the door.
- Any time someone complains to God about why they have to suffer when they have tried so hard to be “good” they are a robber – stealing glory from Jesus’ sacrifice by suggesting that their moral efforts somehow add value to what Jesus has done.
- Any time someone takes credit for anything without pointing first to Jesus they are a robber.
- Any time someone seeks happiness through anything that they suspect Jesus does not approve they are a robber.
- Any time someone chooses something else over spending devotional time with Jesus they are a robber.
- Any time someone doesn’t pause to give thanks for a meal they are a robber.
- Any time a parent doesn’t make rearing their God-given children to become fully devoted followers of Christ their central focus as a parent they are a robber.
Are you a robber?
