Good evening everyone!
It’s been a good day. Sonja and started our day in Columbia but wrapping up shop back where heart lies…Fort Mill.
This afternoon I served Communion for Bob Attaway and his family. After we had finished I was talking with Bob for a few minutes when I heard a commotion in the kitchen. Upon inspection I discovered that Bob’s great granddaughter had been busy while we were partaking of the Lord’s Supper. She had discovered a bottle of caramel syrup and had squirted it all over herself and over much of the kitchen floor (“greased pig” comes to mind) / she was having the time of her life! ( I was jealous)
What stood out in my mind, however, was how mother, grandmother and aunt responded. Of course they put a stop to the mess before it got worst / but they didn’t “spaz out” / they turned a funny situation into just that – a funny situation. There was a lot of

laughter that went with a lot of cleaning up. Bottom line, they kept things in perspective. Two year olds will make messes but in the long run a little caramel syrup on the floor and on the little one’s cloths can be cleaned up / but an angry outburst and ugly scene can leave scars that last a lifetime.
That event reminded me of the devotions tonight at the Saturday Prayer service. I had those in attendance to join me in reading the last section of all the Minor Prophets. I had a purpose for this. The writing of the Minor Prophets spans hundreds of years and yet the theme of how they all closed was hope (at least for those trusting in God).
Each generation had different challenges, fears and frustrations / but in the end God left the promise that He was going to work things out. Nothing has changed / you and I still have our challenges / everything from spilt syrup to far worst things / but remember, God’s not panicking / He has a plan for all your mess-ups and set backs / so let’s leave this week in His care and turn in tonight with the peace of knowing that He will work things out no matter what.
In His sure grip,
dlk
