100407: Life in Six Mile

Hello all you dearly loved PEPpers and assorted friends!

Today started in Cleveland, TN and is ending in Six Mile, SC \ childhood home of my sweetheart and wife.  I am taking a few days off so Sonja and I can stay with her mother (staying with your mother-in-law \ it doesn’t get in better than that \ David Lee has been bumped to second place! J).

The trip today went fine.  We arrived at Six Mile safe and sound (PTL!) and have been “mother-in-law sitting” ever since.  Sonja’s mother broke her leg a couple weeks ago and is in a cast and confined to bed rest for several weeks.  Sonja is relieving her younger sister and family.

Life is different here.  I made a run to “Durham’s” (the local convenient store) and found myself poking along with the window down.  I can revert to Six Mile living with a snap of my fingers!  Sonja and I went from a suit and tie dinner last night to a greasy cheeseburgers-to-go dinner tonight.  They were so greasy that the grease was coming through the paper bag by the time I arrived back at Ruby’s…yum, yum good.  I can only do that about twice a year if I hope to live to see my grandchildren grow up!

Sonja and I took a walk this evening…two steep hills and thirty-five minutes later we arrived back with a lot of those cheeseburger calories gone!

Now we’re settling in for the evening…life is good \ miss all you back at home (and my children…grandson…Frodo and my two cats \ but staying with Ruby is a good thing…I owe her a bunch \ she gave me one of her daughters \ the best one and the best wife a man could ever have (hope the other two sisters never read this!).

Well, that’s about it…good evening everyone,

 dlk
