100406: Day two in Cleveland, TN

Hello all you “PEPpers” and other friends!

Well, today has been an emotional day.  Sonja served at her last Women’s Ministry board meeting.  There is a major reorganization going on in our denomination which is downsizing all the departments.  The result is that all the departments and boards are being affected in one way or the other.  On the whole it is a positive thing but change is always hard and when you go beyond the facts and figures and consider the faces (people) change can be a difficult thing.

On a personal note, today our daughter’s divorce became final.  This is not something we’ve talked about a lot but it’s been a tough go for Sonja and I over the last year.  We love both Briana and Seth and so losing a son-in-law today has been tough.  However, our children have to make their own way in life and we will love and cherish our daughter throughout the journey as long as God allows us to live and will also remember Seth kindly.

On a happier note, I did have a productive day working at my computer and books (I take them with me when I travel), only leaving our motel room to refill my coffee cup from time to time.  The women’s ministry board also had a wonderful meal together tonight at a restaurant that Sonja and I had never eaten at, the Baldheaded Bistro.  The food was excellent!  I’d recommend it if you’re ever in Cleveland.

Well that about does it here in Church of God land.  I pray that all is well back home.  We miss you all.

Kindest regards,

P.S. Tonight’s picture is a picture from 1948 in Northfolk, West Virginia.  It’s the little Church of God that my dad attended when he was a boy.  He was saved in this church.  He is in this picture somewhere but can’t remember where!  That’s OK, just being in the right crowd is all that matters.

Dad received this picture from an old friend the other day.  I am so thankful for the faithful pastors, Sunday School teachers, youth workers and an aunt who took him to church and loved him.  If it were not for the people of this church I would not be here today.   That is what all you “PEPpers” are doing at FMCOG…creating a better future for a lot of people, many of them yet to be born.
