Hello everyone!
Praise God for a great weekend! Several of you have asked me for a quick review of the “Seven Pillars for Building a Wise Life” (Proverbs 9:1), so briefly here goes:
- Your “physical life” – be intentional about taking care of the body God gave you\it is your number one tool for fulfilling your destiny on earth.
- Your “vocational life” – this is what you are; not what you do. If you do not make time to clearly define what this is and give your B-E-S-T here you will undermine everything else you do in life.
- Your “occupational life” (job) – this is what you do to provide a life for those you love; have a plan to give it your B-E-S-T.
- Your “financial life” – remember about the only benefit of money is that it gives you options. However, if you hope to give your B-E-S-T it will require money. If you do not have a plan for your money, trust me, others do and it will not be to your advantage.
- Your “intellectual life” – it is not only important to have a healthy body but a growing mind, steeped in wisdom and knowledge. It is easy to become obsolete without an intentional plan to stay current. One of the best motivations for learning is a passion. When you have a passion for something that really matters it will not be a problem to be a student; you will want to be at the top of your game.
- Your “recreational life” – I also refer to this as living the “Sabbath Life”. It is taking intentional steps to ensure that there is space in your life for “re-creating” yourself. This requires among other things, rest, quietness and reflection. Note: Watching television does not qualify!
- Your “spiritual life” – this is the bedrock of a wise life. Time must be made consistently and continually to commune with God. When you allow the busyness, pressure and distractions of life to pull you away from your time with God it is like unplugging yourself from you power source.
Well, there you have it – the seven pillars for building a wise life. Don’t expect to be at your best with all of these immediately. I encourage you to take a few minutes each day to reflect on just one pillar. As you work your way through these areas of your life you will find that you begin to gro
w incrementally; and usually it is slow growth that is longterm and lasting growth.
Blessing everyone,
dlk
P.S. Picture…remember that cold day? Praise God for the lives that are being touched as a result of our step of faith. We had over 1200 in attendance this past Sunday! To God be the glory.
