February 4, 2010 Update

Good morning everyone!

My schedule is a little different today.  The way my schedule worked out I decided to go to the office first and then spent my afternoon in my study.  As a result, I arrived at the office early this morning before anyone else and thus I don’t really have much to report today.  I always figure that “no news is good news”; so I am thanking our Father God for watching over us through the night.

This morning in my personal devotional time I was impressed with just how helpless we are to really control our lives.  If our strategy is self-control and self-discipline we will always fail.  These things are important and required; but our source of strength and success is not grounded in our strength and resources.  Our sources of strength and success is only possible when we surrender our lives to the control of God.  I wondered this morning how many of the people I know are out there trying to hold it all together.  Keeping up appearances is so hard.  My prayer is that someone will find the courage to say, “I can’t do it anymore”, and will throw in the towel and surrender control of their life to God.  This can’t be just an “inside decision” it must be declared and acted upon.  If you are the person I am writing too, please stop now and raise up the white flag of surrender and cast yourself upon God’s love and mercy; and also, call someone and tell them what you have done.  Remember, if you do not make a public surrender it will be so easy to take back the reins of your life; and you know that won’t work.

Well, enough “preaching” for today!  Remember, tonight’s 40-day service.  I’d love to see you there.

Blessings,

dlk

P.S. Remember when the Center for Discipleship was not there?  Today’s picture is just a reminder that you and I are under construction.  You may feel like you’re nothing but an empty and useless hole in the ground; but really you are God’s construction sight.  Give Him a little time (and surrender) and you will be surprised what He can build with your life!
